Coast Guard operation : 50,000 Yaba pills seized in Teknaf

Cox's Bazar Correspondent

The Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 50,000 Yaba pills worth approximately Tk 2.50 crore from the Naf River near Shah Pari's Dwip in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on Wednesday night.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Suzan, Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, said this in a press release  on Thursday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a special operational team from the Coast Guard Outpost Shah Pari conducted a raid in the Nazirpara area along the Naf River at around 11:00 PM on Wednesday.

During the drive, Coast Guard personnel signaled a suspicious engine-driven wooden boat to stop. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug smugglers fled the scene, abandoning the vessel.

A subsequent search of the surrounding area led to the recovery of a floating sack containing 50,000 Yaba tablets.

The process of taking necessary legal action regarding the seized narcotics has been taken.

The official added that the Coast Guard will continue such drives to curb the spread of illicit drugs across the coastal regions.
