Coast Guard detained with 3 deer hunters with 25 -kg vensions from Sundarbans

Coast Guard has arrested three deer hunters, including 20 -kg of deer meat, in three separate operations in Sundarbans.

On the basis of secret information on March 16, 2025, the Bangladesh Coast Guard under the West Zone station, Kaira, Kaikhali and Harberia, respectively, the southern Khasitana of Cairo, the area adjacent to the Shakbaria river, the Sundarbans Bazar and the area of Mongnagar area under Shamnagar district of Satkhira district. In the raids, a total of 20 kg of deer meat, 2 heads, 2 leather and 8 legs were detained from the Sundarbans.

The arrested deer hunter Md Babu Alam, 27, is a resident of Pashbemari area of Shamnagar police station in Satkhira district. The seized deer, head, skin, legs and the seized person have been handed over to the concerned forest department and the Naval Police to take legal action against the detained person.

Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the biodiversity of the Sundarbans and prevent illegal trafficking, Lieutenant Commander Tarek Ahmed said.

Forest Department Kaikhali Station Officer Sultan Ahmed said the detained person was sent to court.
