Ansar detained one while trying to abandon body at Chandina Health Complex

Chandina (Cumilla) Correspondent

On-duty Ansar members apprehended a bus passenger for attempting to flee after abandoning the corpse of an unidentified man in front of the Chandina Upazila Health Complex in Cumilla on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:00 PM when a passenger named Mahmudul, 52, died while traveling from Chattogram to Gaibandha aboard a bus belonging to 'Jannat Paribahan'. Neither the passengers nor the transport staff reported the death or informed local police when the fatality occurred inside the moving vehicle.

Upon reaching a fuel pump in the Palki area under Chandina upazila, the victim's body was unloaded from the bus. Subsequently, Ashraful Mia, 30, who identified himself as a co-passenger on the bus, transported the body on a rickshaw to the main entrance of the Chandina Upazila Health Complex and attempted to flee after discarding it.

Noticing the suspicious activity, patrolling Ansar Assistant Platoon Commander (APC) Md. Al Mamun Sarkar and Ansar member Sanjoy Kanti Paul intercepted and detained Ashraful while taking custody of the body.

Later, a  police team led by the OC of Chandina Police Station arrived at the scene. The Ansar members handed over both the detainee and the body to the police team. Using the National Identity (NID) card recovered from the deceased, police identified him as Mahmudul, 52, and initiated efforts to contact his family members. Hospital authorities and local residents praised the Ansar personnel for their alertness and timely action.
