In Mithapukur, instead of conducting an eviction drive on the land ordered by the court, an eviction drive was conducted in the wrong place. As a result, 03 families have lost their homes and are in trouble. The victims held a press conference demanding the return of the land, action against those who neglected their duties, and full rehabilitation.

The press conference was held at Mithapukur Press Club on Sunday.  The poor people who lost their homes in the eviction campaign broke down in tears at the press conference.

In a written statement at the press conference, the victims said that the two sons of deceased Eshar Uddin, Sakhawat Mia and Eshak Mia, filed a case of possession rights at plot 2644 in Baldipukur Nayapara Mouza of Ranipukur Union No. 02 of Mithapukur Upazila in Mithapukur. The court gave a unilateral verdict to Sakhawat Hossain in the said case on October 3 last year. The court directed Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Multamis Billah to conduct an eviction drive to hand over the possession rights of the said plot to Sakhawat Hossain. As per the court's order, on July 28, the Assistant Commissioner (Land) and the learned Executive Magistrate, along with the police, Nazir, surveyor, and workers, went to conduct an eviction drive at plot 2644. But by mistake, instead of conducting the eviction drive on 2644 dags of land, the eviction drive was conducted on 2645 dags.

The victims claim that about 15 tin shed houses, including those of their 3 families, were demolished at 2645 Daga. They repeatedly tried to convince the officials participating in the eviction drive that their houses were at 2645 Daga. But no one listened to them at that time.

At the press conference, the victims' family members broke down in tears. They said, "We have no place to lay our heads. We are living in school buildings and under trees. We are going through a lot of hardship, including our children. We have been treated unfairly. An official who participated in the eviction drive was influenced and grossly neglected his duty." At this time, they demanded the return of their homes and rehabilitation.

In this regard, Mithapukur Assistant Commissioner (Land) and learned Executive Magistrate Muntamis Billah, who participated in the eviction drive, said, "I have fulfilled the responsibility of controlling the law and order situation. Nazir Akhiruzzan, appointed by the court, has surveyed this matter. If it is wrong, it is their business. The victims can take legal action if they want." Sakhwat Hossain, the plaintiff who took possession of the said land, said, "The land that was given to me is mine. I do not understand the mistake, if they want, let them file a case. Before that, someone will read his body."

Mithapukur UNO  Md. Zillur Rahman said, "This has been determined by the surveyors and Nazirs of the Judge Court. They conducted the survey in the wrong place. This is their mistake."
