Tea community celebrates 'Phagua Festival 'in Srimangal

The traditional festival of the tea community in Srimangal, ‘Phagua festival’, was celebrated.
 
 The festival was celebrated at 4 pm on Saturday at the Phulchhara tea garden ground in the upazila. Tea workers sang Odisha, Bengali and Hindi songs on the stage to the rhythm of the madal, flute and stick. Numerous people from home and abroad flocked to the Phulchhara tea garden ground to watch the festival of life and love of tea workers, Phagua. Everyone gathered at the Phagua festival, regardless of religion or caste.
 
Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Israel Hossain presided over the event, and Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui, Advisor to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, spoke virtually as the chief guest. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Islam Uddin, Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam, Finley Tea Company Balishira Valley DGM Md. Salauddin, tea worker leader Parimal Singh Baraik, National Citizen Party (NCP) Central Joint Secretary Pritam Das and others also spoke at the event. At the end of the event, Holi Geet, Kurmali Dance, Kui Dance, Ganati Bejni, Shertelu, Oriya Dance, Sharul, Lathi, Bhomkach, Mundari, Oriya Bhajan, Dang, Jhumur, Kara, Mangala, Bhujpuri, Kharia Dance, Dance and Songs, part of the culture of different castes and tribes of the tea community, were performed.
 
 Thousands of tea workers from different tea gardens of the country participated in the event.
