State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had been contemplating the development of the country's sports sector even before the government was formed, not just after assuming power.

He made these remarks on Wednisday noon while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Araihazar Shaheed Manjur Stadium—now officially named "Araihazar Mini Stadium."
He noted that even while participating in the movement to oust the previous government, Araihazar MP Nazrul Islam Azad used to discuss the development of the local sports arena.
It is worth mentioning that in 1978, the late President Ziaur Rahman named the field of Araihazar Pilot High School—located in the heart of Araihazar municipal town—"Shaheed Manjur Stadium" in honour of Shaheed Freedom Fighter Manjur Hossain from Idbardi village, Araihazar; he also constructed a small pavilion there. Subsequently, for the past 17 years, the Awami League government operated the facility under the name "Sheikh Russel Stadium." After the current government assumed power, it was renamed "Araihazar Mini Stadium" and formally inaugurated.

Jewel Ahmed, General Secretary; VP Kabir Hossain, Joint Secretary; and Habibur Rahman Habu, former General Secretary, among others were also present.
