The Satkhira District branch of Dhaka Baisommobirudhi Chhatro Andolon (Anti-Discrimination Student Movement) organized a protest rally condemning the brutal murder of businessman Lal Chand alias Sohag in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford Hospital) in Old Dhaka, allegedly over refusal to pay extortion money.
The protest was held on Saturday afternoon at Shaheed Asif Square in Satkhira town. During the rally, the protestors chanted powerful slogans such as “Burn down the dens of terrorists!” and “Burn down the hideouts of extortionists!”
The rally saw participation from general students and key organizers including Convener Arafat Hossain, Spokesperson Mohini Parvin, Joint Member Secretaries Tamim Tasnim and Rahat Nuha Ansari, among others.
Speakers at the protest declared: “One of our brothers was stoned to death. We are saying it clearly—if you don’t stop this politics of corpses, you’ll face the same fate as Sheikh Hasina. If you walk in her footsteps, your end will be just like hers.”
