Human chain in Barguna protesting murder at Midford

Barguna  Correspondent

A human chain and protest rally were held in Barguna in condemnation of the brutal public murder of scrap trader and Barguna  Lal Chand alias Sohag in Dhaka’s Mitford area.

The program took place on Saturday  at 11:00 AM in front of the Barguna Press Club, with participation from various political, social, and cultural organizations, as well as journalist leaders and members of civil society.

During the rally, speakers said that Sohag's killers did not stop at simply murdering him in cold blood—they continued to brutally abuse his lifeless body, an act that has shamed the entire nation.

They further stated that criminals have no political party—they always operate under the shadow of power. “Expelled when viral, reinstated shortly after”—this is the dangerous cycle that must be broken, or more innocent people like Sohag will fall victim to such brutality.

The speakers issued a strong warning, saying: “In this country, extortion is rewarded, and only when caught, people are expelled. If justice is not served in this case, the people will be forced to deliver their verdict through the ballot box.”

Speakers at the rally included Advocate Sohel Hafiz, President of Barguna Press Club; Mufti Mizanur Rahman Kasemi, District President of Islami Andolan; Nazma Begum, President of the District Women’s Council; and Monir Hossain Kamal, Secretary of the Citizens' Rights Protection Committee, among others.
