Locals form human chain demanding steps to protect roads, houses in Louhajang

Locals have formed a human chain to protect the roads and houses of locals in Louhajang, Munshiganj.
The human chain was formed in front of the Baniagaon Baitul Nur Jame Mosque in Bejgaon Union of Bejgaon Upazila after Jumma prayers on Friday.
The speakers in the human chain said that canal excavation work is underway in Baniagaon village. The excavation work is being done very deeply. As a result, the road on the side of the canal is in a risky condition. The road can collapse and be damaged at any time. In addition, the soil that is being extracted by digging the ongoing canal is being sold to some government institutions as well as to various places in the dark of night. They also said that if this soil is placed on both sides of the canal, the road will be strengthened. Besides, if the Atigaon government primary school, playground and social institutions in this area were given to the people of this area, they could have benefited from it, but instead of doing so, they are selling it to different places.
Local Shajahan Sheikh said, canal digging is important for our area, but the depth of the canal should be the same everywhere, but in some places it is being deepened more and in some places it is being made shallower, which is not desirable. He also said that the roads are being threatened in the places where they are being deepened more. The people will benefit from both the canal and the road. The way it is done should be done in a way that will keep the roads and canals safe. He also said that due to digging too deep, the surrounding houses are also being threatened. I wish the authorities to monitor the canal digging properly.
Another person named Aman Sheikh said that the matter has been reported to the Upazila Executive Officer. He said that the depth of the canal should be the same everywhere and asked them to make it a little deeper. But they are not listening to that and are acting like them.
