In Gafargaon, Mymensingh, Jubo Dal leader Saleh Akram Taslim went to capture a beel with his team. When the locals tried to obstruct him, Taslim and his men hacked and beat 6 people, injuring them.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in the village of Chagchapila in Tangab Union under Pagla Police Station of the upazila. According to police and local sources, when Saleh Akram Taslim, the joint convener of the Upazila Jubo Dal, went to captute the Urpathar Beel in Chagchapila village of Tangab Union last year, the owners of the beel stopped him. Local people were injured in the bloody clash at that time. When he went to seize the bill again on Saturday , the locals resisted.
At that time, Jubo Dal leader Taslim and his men hacked and beat up 6 people who owned the beel.
The injured are Sarwar Hossain (35), Mangan Khan (25), Tushar (25), Rubel (37), Ataur Rahman Khan (64) of Chakchapila village. Among them, Sarwar, who was seriously injured, was first transferred to Mymensingh Medical Hospital after receiving primary treatment at Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex.
The others were given primary treatment. It was learned from talking to the locals that Jubo Dal leader Taslim is establishing a reign of terror in the area with his own forces. This force controls extortion, encroachment, and drug trafficking in the area.
Moin Khan, a July fighter from Chakchapila village, said, "We are cultivating fish in the Urpathar beel located on our own land. Taslim and his forces have already failed in their attempts at extortion and encroachment." On Saturday, when he tried to take over the bill again with his forces, 6 of us were hacked and beaten to death when we tried to resist. On behalf of the bill owners, Tushar Khan said that the Jubo Dal leader has terrorized the people in the Taslim area with his own forces and has taken them hostage. The people, fed up with his torture, did not seek help from the police. Although police members were standing near the scene during today's attack, the Taslim forces did not stop them. In this regard, the accused Saleh Akram Taslim said, I am not accused of occupying the bill and fighting.
When asked why the police were innocent during the attack, Pagla Police Station OC Muhammad Ferdous Alam denied the police's silence. In the video taken during the incident, he hung up the phone without answering the question about the police's silence.
