Jamaat once again formed an alliance with AL against  BNP govt, reminiscent of 1996:  Rashed Khan

Rashed Khan, Political Assistant to the Prime Minister, has remarked that Jamaat-e-Islami has begun conspiring with the Awami League against the BNP government. Much like in 1996, the Awami League and Jamaat are attempting to incite chaos in the country. The Facebook post by a young man—which contained a threat to assassinate the Prime Minister using a sniper during her visit to Rajshahi—was instigated by the opposition, Rashed Khan stated. He added that the individual acted with such audacity due to incitement from the opposition.

Rashed Khan made these remarks while responding to questions from journalists on Thursday  afternoon, following the inauguration of a free medical camp at the Abu Bakr Biswas Mokshed Ali College in Chaprail, Kaliganj Upazila.

Criticizing the opposition, Rashed Khan noted that Jamaat had previously formed alliances with the Awami League in 1986 and 1996, and they have now joined forces once again. Together, Jamaat and the Awami League have launched a fresh conspiracy against the BNP government.

Rashed Khan mentioned that during the Prime Minister’s visit to Rajshahi, a young man posted a threat on Facebook to kill her with a sniper. He suggested that it should be investigated whether the opposition incited this incident; the opposition’s provocations and controversial stance emboldened the individual to make such comments about the Prime Minister.

He also criticized the Ameer of Jamaat, stating that the leader consistently speaks untruths. While members of his own party might view him as a saintly figure, the Jamaat Ameer continues to engage in a series of political falsehoods. He was previously involved with the JSD Chhatra League, engaged in acts of terror, and has a history of dishonesty. Has he truly abandoned lying since joining Jamaat? Rashed Khan asserted that the leaders and activists of the BNP, Chhatra Dal, and Juba Dal are prepared—along with  the general public—to counter the conspiracies hatched by Jamaat and the Awami League.

The event was attended by various individuals, including Hamidul Islam Hamid, former Senior Joint Convener of the Kaliganj Upazila BNP; Elias Rahman Mithu, Joint Member Secretary; and Moshiar Rahman, Principal of the college.
