Global Handwashing Day 2026 was observed in Khansama Upazila of Dinajpur district on Wednesday through an awareness rally, a discussion meeting, and a practical handwashing demonstration aimed at promoting public health and sanitation practices.

Organized jointly by the Khansama Upazila Administration and the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), the program commenced at 11:00 am in the Upazila Parishad complex hall. UNO  Kamruzzaman Sarkar presided over the discussion session.

Highlighting this year's national theme—"Be a Handwashing Hero"—speakers urged citizens to regularly wash their hands with soap and to encourage others within the community to adopt proper hygiene habits to safeguard public health and prevent disease transmission.

The discussion was addressed by DPHE Sub-Assistant Engineer Mirajul Islam, Upazila Primary Education Officer Humayun Kabir Talukder, Dinajpur District BNP Finance Secretary, Khansama Upazila BNP Joint Convener and Bhabki Union Parishad Chairman Robiul Alam Tuhin, Khansama Upazila BNP Member and former Joint General Secretary Sayeeed Ahmed Selim Bulbul, and Upazila BNP Member and former Organizational Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Students and teachers from various local educational institutions actively participated in the awareness rally and discussion meeting, which concluded with a practical demonstration illustrating proper handwashing techniques.
