
First anniv of July-August Uprising observed at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington

An event titled “July Beyond Borders” was organized on Friday at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington, D.C marking the first anniversary of the July-August Uprising.
The July-August Mass Uprising was a milestone in Bangladesh's democracy and the just rights of its people.
With the unprecedented participation of students and the masses, the uprising of July-August led to the fall of the Hasina government.
Before fleeing, Hasina-led government killed at least 1,400 students and civilians.
In exchange for the blood of hundreds of martyrs, Bangladesh was freed from fascism.
A poster and photo exhibition focusing on the glorious days of the July-August Mass Uprising, the movement, and the genocide was organized at the Embassy auditorium.
A documentary film based on the genocide was also screened. Many of those who played a vital role in Bangladesh’s mass uprising while residing in the United States were invited to the Embassy; they viewed still images and videos of the uprising.
Members of the Bangladeshi community, professionals from various fields, expatriate Bangladeshis, and officials and staff of the Embassy were present.
