BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Salam urges journalists from Kishoreganj in Dhaka to work unitedly

 Staff Correspondent

BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Abdus Salam has called on all journalists from Kishoreganj living in the capital to work unitedly.

He said, “My ancestral roots lie in Kishoreganj. That’s why I always rush to attend any of your events. I believe if you work in unity, it will lead to reforms in the state and changes in society.”

Abdus Salam made these remarks as the chief guest at the ‘Inauguration Ceremony of the Newly Elected Committee’ organized by the Kishoreganj Journalists’ Forum in Dhaka, held on Saturday at FARS Hotel & Restaurant in Paltan, Dhaka.

Among the speakers at the event were BNP Organizing Secretary and President of Kishoreganj District BNP Shariful Alam, President of Greater Mymensingh Journalists’ Association Molla Jalal, Secretary General Uday Hakim, former Joint Secretary of the Central Committee of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal GM Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Sobuj.

Abdus Salam further said, “Journalists are the mirror of the nation. What they show is what the nation accepts. It is the duty and responsibility of a professional journalist to keep the people of the country in peace and guide them to the right path.”

At the event, he also pledged to always stand by the welfare of Kishoreganj’s journalists.

Shariful Islam stated, “One’s birthplace should always be given priority. The birthplace is the dearest and most cherished place to every individual. It is part of our roots, culture, heritage, and identity. Love, respect, and a sense of duty towards one's birthplace are essential for every citizen. As a child of Kishoreganj, I am proud. Those of us who have established ourselves through our merit must stand by every person of our district in their times of need. He added, ‘Call a spade a spade.’”

He continued, “The media is called the conscience and mirror of the nation. We urge you to call white white and black black. Even if I am black, call me black—do not spare me. Let us not dishonor those students and citizens of this country who sacrificed their lives to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh. We want a Bangladesh where there is no discrimination or division. A state where the fundamental rights of every citizen are ensured. A country where the state takes full responsibility for the underprivileged. A corruption-free country where there is no extortion or land grabbing. A country where our mothers and sisters can live with dignity. We want a humane Bangladesh where everyone respects one another.”

Erfanul Haque Nahid said, “To ensure the overall development of Kishoreganj, journalists of this forum need to play a more active role. In the coming days, this committee will undertake that important work. At the same time, we are considering establishing a permanent office in Dhaka.
