Some 120 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and cheques worth Tk 3.6 million have been distributed among 76 helpless families affected by natural disasters in Goalando, Rajbari.
On Wednesday at 11 am, under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and organized by the upazila administration, a bundle of corrugated tin and checks were given to each family free of charge to provide humanitarian assistance to 76 helpless poor families affected by fires, Kalbaishakhi storms, river erosion, and other disasters in 4 unions in the upazila premises.
UNO Md. Nahidur Rahman inaugurated the corrugated tin and check distribution program as the chief guest.
Project Implementation Officer Md. Abu Bakar and others were also present at the time.
UNO Nahidur Rahman said, "This initiative of the Disaster Management Department is truly commendable. With the cooperation of the local administration, we quickly prepared a list of the truly needy and delivered this assistance to them. After receiving this relief, many families will dream of living anew."
