ASP withdrawn over Facebook troll on Gopalganj NCP incident

Dinajpur Correspondent

Dinajpur Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Mosfequr Rahman has been withdrawn after posting a troll on Facebook regarding the recent attack on a National Citizen Party (NCP) rally in Gopalganj. In protest, members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held demonstrations demanding his arrest.

On Wednesday night (16 July), leaders and activists of the organization staged a protest in front of the main gate of the Dinajpur Superintendent of Police’s office.

Earlier that evening, Mosfequr Rahman had posted from his personal Facebook ID: I’ve heard the AC inside the tank is very comfortable.”

Ekramul Haque Abir referred to an incident from a year ago and said, “This police officer ordered firing during our movement back then. No action was taken at that time either. Now again, he is mocking our activists through online trolling. We believe he is repeatedly suppressing movements under the shelter of the ruling party.”

He added, “Withdrawal is not enough. A case must be filed and he must be arrested quickly. Otherwise, we will continue our movement indefinitely.”

Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain said,  the post was brought to the attention of higher authorities and Mosfequr Rahman was immediately withdrawn. The matter is currently under investigation.
