Controversial content creator Ibrahim Mokta from Chunarughat, Habiganj, is once again at the center of a storm — this time for allegedly mocking Surah Al-Fatiha, a sacred chapter of the Holy Qur’an. The video, which went viral on social media on Saturday, sparked widespread outrage, with many viewers condemning the act and demanding the arrest of those involved. The video shows Ibrahim apparently heading to prayer when he accidentally bumps into a pot of rice being cleaned by Mokta on the stairs. As the pot falls, Mokta mockingly exclaims, “Maliki Yawmid Deen,” to which Ibrahim responds, “Iyyaka na’budu wa iyyaka nasta’in,” adding that he is on his way to pray. The scene, intended to be humorous, has been widely criticized for ridiculing religious sentiments and sacred texts.Viewers and religious individuals described the video as offensive, calling it a blatant mockery of Islamic teachings. “There is a limit to humor,” one commenter said, adding, “You may have creative freedom, but not at the expense of religious sentiments. This has deeply hurt the feelings of Muslims.”Following the backlash, concerned citizens staged online protests and demanded legal action against Ibrahim and Mokta. On Sunday, two individuals — Maulana Tawfiq-ul-Islam Shuaybi and journalist Kazi Sujan — filed a verbal complaint at Chunarughat Police Station, accusing the duo of insulting religious beliefs through TikTok content.Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nur Alam confirmed the complaint and said two police teams are actively working to apprehend Ibrahim and Mokta. “We have received serious reactions since Saturday,” he said. “However, the accused have locked their house and fled. We urge everyone to cooperate and hand them over to law enforcement.”Despite the controversy, both Ibrahim and Mokta appeared in a Facebook live session where they publicly apologized. “Our knowledge of religion is limited,” they said. “Please forgive us.” However, social critics argue this is not the first time they have courted controversy. In the past, the duo has repeatedly produced insensitive content targeting religious issues, only to apologize when faced with public backlash.Ibrahim, a former carpenter from Ikratoli village in Gazipur Union, rose to internet fame in recent years with controversial content and has reportedly amassed significant wealth. His wife, Mokta — also known as "Pangas Mokta" — gained notoriety for her comedic appearances and even contested in the last Upazila elections for Vice Chairman, where she lost her deposit. The couple reportedly leads a team of 8–10 people dedicated to producing online content, much of which has sparked criticism for crossing ethical and religious boundaries.

Members of the local civil society have compared the incident to recent controversies involving other TikTokers, demanding that authorities take swift and decisive action. Islamic scholar Mufti Hafiz Nasir Uddin commented, “This act amounts to blasphemy. It is equivalent to disbelief.”As the investigation continues, pressure is mounting on law enforcement to ensure accountability and prevent further misuse of digital platforms to spread religiously insensitive content.
