AL leader arrested in Lalmonirhat

Police have arrested Awami League leader and former councilor Rashedul Hasan Rashed (48) from Lalmonirhat. He was captured on Wednesday night near Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital area.Rashed, a resident of Khorrdashapatan in Lalmonirhat Pourasabha, was the general secretary of Ward No. 2 of the Awami League and a former councilor of the same ward.According to police sources, Rashed was wanted in multiple cases, including murder filed at Dhaka Lalbagh and Mirpur police stations. He is also accused in cases related to attacks on BNP offices and other properties. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested him on Wednesday night.Nurunnabi, OC of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station, confirmed that Rashed had several pending cases against him and had been on the run for a long time. Legal proceedings against him will now begin.
