As the United Nations General Assembly prepares to convene its 81st session at the UN Headquarters in New York, Bangladesh stands at a pivotal juncture on the global diplomatic stage with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman leading the national delegation to articulate the vision of a newly elected democratic administration.

The upcoming session carries distinct significance for the nation, as Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman presides over UNGA 81 as President of the Assembly.

The high-level general debate, scheduled to run from September 22 to 28 under the theme "Restoring Trust, Managing.

A United Nations That Delivers for All," will address climate action, sea-level rise, pandemic preparedness, and equitable development.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who took office earlier this year, is scheduled to deliver his address focusing on economic resilience, democratic governance, climate justice for vulnerable nations, and safe global migration. On the sidelines of the assembly, the prime minister will lead high-level events aimed at mobilizing international support for the ongoing Rohingya humanitarian crisis, pressing for sustained aid and the safe, dignified repatriation of displaced Myanmar nationals.
Bangladesh’s presence at the assembly highlights its long-standing footprint within multilateral frameworks. As one of the top operational contributors to UN Peacekeeping Missions worldwide, Bangladesh has deployed over 180,000 military and police personnel across more than 50 blue-helmet operations.

The nation also remains a recognized leader in international diplomacy, having championed the landmark Culture of Peace resolution and the global recognition of International Mother Language Day.

The Bangladeshi delegation includes senior diplomats, cabinet officials, and economic advisers set to participate in bilateral talks with foreign heads of state, the UN Secretary-General, and international trade executives to strengthen foreign direct investment and post-LDC graduation strategies.
