A total of 38 candidates have been finalized to contest in the upcoming election of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The Election Conducting Committee announced the final list of candidates on Saturday (April 19) after the scrutiny process. In the election scheduled for May 10, these 38 candidates will compete for 35 positions. From the 35 elected directors, later 9 will be selected for the positions of President, Executive President, and seven Vice Presidents.According to BKMEA sources, a total of 42 nomination papers were submitted. On the final day, 4 candidates withdrew their nominations. All of them were from the panel of current BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem. The names of the withdrawn candidates are ASM Kamrul Ahsan, Mostafa Monowar Bhuiyan, Mohammad Abdul Momen, and M. Nasiruddin. On April 9, the last day for nomination submissions, a total of 42 candidates submitted nomination papers for 35 positions. Among them, 39 were from Mohammad Hatem’s panel. The independent candidates were GM Haidar Ali, Md. Monir Hossain Sheikh, and Md. Shahjahan Alam.The candidates from President Mohammad Hatem’s panel are: Mohammad Hatem, Monsur Ahmed, Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Md. Samsuzzaman, Amal Poddar, Md.
