
'Dhaka Central University' to be formed for 7 colleges

The new university that is going to be formed for the students of seven government colleges in Dhaka will be named ‘Dhaka Central University’ (DCU).
The decision was made at a meeting of student representatives of seven colleges at the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Sunday.
A 32-member student delegation as well as UGC Chairman SMA Faiz participated in the meeting.
Earlier, two opinions came out among the students regarding the name of the new university. 17 of them voted in favour of 'Dhaka Central University'. However, other students do not want this name. They voted in favour of the name Federal University. Later, the students gave their consent unanimously in favor of 'Dhaka Central University'.
The seven colleges are: Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Govt. Girls' College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Mirpur Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
