Young generation's sacrifice can't be futile: Shipping Adviser

Shipping and Labour and Employment Adviser Brig. Gen. (retd.) Dr M Shakhawat Hossain today said around 2,000 youths laid down their supreme sacrifice during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and their sacrifice cannot go in vain.
"We all acknowledged their sacrifice and their supreme sacrifice can't be futile. Let's come and take the country forward collectively," he told the 56th founding anniversary and reunion of Khulna Government Sundarban Adarsha College here as the chief guest.
Dr Shakhwat said although the Khulna Government Sundarban Adarsha College is located in a small area, it has generated many famous personnel and its contribution to Khulna's development is enormous.
The Shipping Adviser said Mongla Port is the life line of Khulna. So, its survival and more effective function are the prime needs. A container terminal has become an urgent need for full-fledged flourishing of the port, and an initiative has been taken to this end.
Senior Directing Staff of National Defence College Major General Khan Firoj Ahmed, Chairman of Mongla Port Authority Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman, Vice-chancellor of Khulna University Prof Rejaul Karim, Divisional Commissioner Firoj Sarker, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Zufiker Ali Haider and Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Saiful Islam also spoke on the occasion.
