World Human Rights Day: What we can do to protect human rights

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

Today Tuesday is World Human Rights Day 2024. On this day in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. In 1950, the United Nations declared this day as World Human Rights DaySince the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations on December 10 for the protection and development of human rights, this day is celebrated as 'World Human Rights Day' every year, every country and nation has some glorious days.

Those days are observed as national and international days. And for these days, some month is observed as the month of the brightest pride in the life of the country and nation. December is such a proud month of our life. December 16 is our Great Victory Day and December 25 is the big day of Christians. Thunder Atuni Fosco Giro. The harder the law, the easier it is to break it. Laws are made as if for the pleasure of breaking them. World Human Rights Day is celebrated today in a grand ceremony in Bangladesh like other countries of the world due to this continuation of law breaking. The impact of human rights on the daily life of every person living in society, irrespective of men, women and children, is undeniable.

Therefore, human rights preservation is found in the Babylonian king Hammarabi's Niyambali, the world's oldest law collection, from about 2288 to 2130 BC. It was said that all the citizens of Medina will enjoy equal rights in the Charter of Medina issued by Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in the multi-religious society of Medina in the 7th centuryThe 30 articles of the Declaration, which are most important in the world today, enshrine the main fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms.

People from any part of the world can enjoy those rights and freedoms without any discrimination. The rights enshrined in the Declaration include: life, liberty, security of person, freedom from servitude, freedom from arbitrary arrest and detention and right to a fair trial by an impartial tribunal, right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, inviolability of domicile and Right to privacy of correspondence, right to move and reside, freedom to marry and form family, right to property, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly and association, right to vote and participate in government, social security, work and decentGuarantee of standard of living, right to education and participation in cultural life of society.Organization in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, participation in government directly or through public representatives, equality of access to public employment, right to rest and leisure, right to personal and family health; Recognized rights to security and freedom from want in disease, disability and old age and discriminationhas beenMoreover, the right to freedom from want and economic security is generally recognized, equality before the law and the right to equal protection under the law are also declared. The General Assembly referred to that declaration as the general standard of success for all people and nations. It appealed to the common people and all nations for the recognition of the rights and freedoms of all those nations and their needs.

The day commemorates the Sharpeville massacre in South Africa as recognized by the United Nations. The day is celebrated on 21 March and 4 December 1950, the 317th Plenary Session of the United Nations General Assembly through Article 423(5) called upon interested parties, including member states, to observe the day in their own way. Human rights related meetings, cultural programs and different types of documentaries or film screenings are mainly common events on this day. When Human Rights Day is called around the world, there is concern about the human rights situation all over the world. Hundreds of Rohingya Muslims in Burma are being tortured and killed every day. The most happy day of Bengalis is the Great Victory Day. The most important day in the history of Bangladesh. The day of freedom from the chains of subjugation. On this day, a new sovereign country, Bangladesh, was created on the world map. Which brings the Bengali nation the address of self-identification.

People from all walks of the country will remember those martyrs who won this victory with their fresh blood. Even after 54 years of victory, the bloodshed has not stopped. Bangladesh is moving forward with the dream of building Sonar Bangla. On this day of victory, everyone's pledge is to 'build a beautiful and prosperous world.' Various human rights organizations and social organizations announced various programs on this occasion to make this nation come out of the discriminations from which freedom was born.

These programs will be celebrated across the country. These programs include rallies, manbandhans, seminars, symposiums, discussion meetings and release of memorabilia. Apart from this there are blood donation program writing competition, cultural program and painting competition. On the occasion of the 34th founding anniversary of the Human Rights Review Society, a day-long program has been organized by the initiative of the human rights organizationThe day will be observed by various human rights organizations through the program, the Human Rights Day discussion will especially highlight the increase in violence against women and children, incidents of human rights violations by members of law enforcement/administration. Human rights are a well-established issue in Islam. Human rights are equal everywhere in the eyes of Islam. Islam has established mankind in the seat of glory, excellence and dignity. Islam binds people to equal rights, unity, brotherhood and friendship.

Islam has warned against caste, caste, caste and caste. Taught to treat slaves and subordinates nicely and justly. Man is the best creature in creation. All are entitled to equal dignity and respect as human beings. Fundamental rights are equal to all. The right to food, clothing, shelter, education, medical treatment is also equal for all. Individual freedom is also equal for everyone. Rich and poor are equal in Islam. Personal, family, cultural, economic, social and political rights are also the same for all. The right to security of life and property is the same. Freedom of expression i.e. freedom of speech is the same for everyone. Enjoining good deeds and forbidding bad deeds play an important role in human rights in Islam. Throughout the ages, various great people have voiced the hope of ensuring the liberation of humanity and human rights. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the founder of Islam, appeared in the seventh century with a new concept of human dignity. He preached that man is the representative of God on earth and man is created in the best form. Islam does not attach importance to caste, tribe, language, property or any other status. It is an integrated concept.

If reviewed from a historical perspective, it can be seen that Islam was the first to clearly specify the fundamental rights of human beings. Fundamental rights are called human rights. Human rights in Islam refer to those rights that Allah Ta'ala himself has granted to his servants. No one in the world has the right to cancel it. This right is not to be revoked. In the first period of Islam, the Muslim citizens enjoyed all the social, spiritual, economic and political rights in the Madinah-based society. Personal rights in Islam include security of life, women's rights, non-murder, non-slander, forgiveness, morals, political rights, labor rights, personal rights and many more. Social rights include the right to life, personal liberty, right to property, right to equality, right to contract, right to write, speak and preach. The Holy Quran says: I have created man in the best and most excellent form. (Sura-At-Tin-03)

It is also said: You have been chosen as the best of nations, for the welfare of mankind. (Surah-al-Imran- 110) The idea of equality between people is found in other verses. It is said in the Holy Quran, O mankind, I have created you from one male and one female. (Surah Hujrat-13) Islam's message of peace is not limited to its own religion. Rather, tolerance and empathy towards the paramat and paradharma is very important. The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized harmony and unity among people of different communities. Freedom and rights of other religions are important elements in the concept of Ummah. It can be understood by looking at the agreements made during the time of the Prophet (PBUH). The 'Madina Sanad' of 624 Hijri is famous for its recognition of human rights. There were 47 clauses in this charter. One of the clauses is-
* The Jewish, Christian, Pagan and Muslim communities who signed the Charter of Medina will enjoy equal civil rights and form one nation.* Full religious freedom will be maintained. Muslims and non-Muslims can practice their respective religions without hesitation. No one can interfere with anyone's religion. * Bloodshed, murder, adultery and other criminal activities are absolutely prohibited. * The weak and helpless must be helped and protected in every possible way. * The allies of the Jews will also enjoy equal security and freedom* Hilful Fuzul, composed of Hazrat Abbas (RA) and others before his Prophethood, was a recognition of the right to freedom and survival of the people in apartheid-ridden Dark Arabia.
* The Prophet (S.A.W.) in his Farewell Hajj speech spoke about guaranteeing the rights of slaves and maidservants along with other rights. It is said there that there is no difference between people. All are equal. He said, no non-Arab is superior to any Arab. No non-Arab has superiority over an Arab. * White people do not have superiority over black people. This trend continued after the death of Rasool (S)In his first speech, he said, 'If I am on the right path, you will help me and support me, and if I go astray, guide me.
* Full citizenship rights of every man and woman were guaranteed even during the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar (RA). They could present their own opinions, grievances, alternative proposals, etc. on governance matters.
* Human dignity shall not be determined by caste-grotra. Rather, dependence on God or piety will determine a person's status. As it is said in the Qur'an - "The most dignified among you are those who fear Him." (Surah Al-Hujrat: * It is the social right of a person to live with dignity in society and to protect one's property. Islam does not allow anyone to take away someone's dignity and kill them unjustly. Allah says: "Whoever kills someone unjustly, it is as if he has killed all people." The hadith says - "Whoever believes in Allah and the Hereafter should not harm his neighbor." And good treatment of prisoners of war is said.
Finally, I would like to say that among the five basic rights of food, clothing, housing, health and education in the constitution of Bangladesh, food, clothing and food are the three most important. The responsibility of protecting the human rights of the people has been entrusted to the state. The state will bear the responsibility of fulfilling the demands of every human right through various institutions. And the current critical situation of the country is political instability, deterioration of law and order situation, unbridled increase in commodity prices, gas, electricity, water crisis and public life has become a nightmare. As a result, family strife and violence have increased. Women are the victims. Not only at home, women and children are being killed, raped and tortured outside. Equality of men and women should be established. For this, uniform environmental legislation should be introduced for all communities, full ratification and implementation of the CDWO Charter and withdrawal of reservations from Articles 2 and 16(1)(c) above.

To stop abuse and violence against women and children, to prevent child marriage, to establish women's rights and ensure security, to establish gender equality in all areas, information technology should be used properly. Equal rights of men and women should be ensured in all areas of the state, society and family, equality of men and women should be established in wealth and property, strict laws should be enacted to prevent torture, murder, rape and child marriage of women and girls and speedy trials should be given to women and girls. Eliminate all forms of violence and ensure safetyhave to doThere should be a massive campaign to prevent all forms of violence against women and girls in the media.

Awareness raising campaign should be conducted in the media. Strict measures should be taken to prevent cybercrime. Government incentives should be provided for the development of women friendly technologies. Education about cyberbullying and crime should be added to the curriculum in order to sensitize the youth to gender in the use of information technology. Women should be widely introduced to technology. They should be given the opportunity to be self-reliant by using technologySo when the peaceful laws and religious precepts of Islam are fully observed and implemented in the society as a whole, people will no longer be disenfranchised.
