Village Defence Forces are nucleus of social security: DG Maj Gen Sajjad Mahmud

The nucleus of social security is the Village Defence Force (VDF). VDF members must be developed as real volunteers in the reconstruction of the country, said Director General, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud.
The 49th founding anniversary of the Village Defence Force (VDP) and VDP Day are being observed on Sunday (January 5).
He said these at a program at the Ansar-VDP Academy in Safipur, Kaliakoir Upazila of Gazipur on the occasion of this day.
Since assuming office, the Director General has pledged to establish the fundamental rights of the marginalized communities and the role of VDP members in their welfare, in addition to institutional reforms. He said that VDP members must be developed as real volunteers in the reconstruction of the country.
He further said that it is important for VDP members to have a clear idea about the capabilities of the force to establish a just and non-discriminatory welfare state. Members must dedicate themselves to improving their skills according to the new syllabus and training policies.
He called on all levels of officers, employees and members to be vigilant to ensure 100% success of the great initiative of Ansar and VDP forces, which are moving forward with the slogan of 'Commitment to Social Security and Development'.
He mentioned that the VDP basic training launched for small ethnic groups is a unique example of the reform program of the force. It has opened the door to new possibilities on the path of establishing a non-discriminatory society by involving all sections of the country's population.
