Two main roads in Homna Municipal area in bad shape, renovation urgently needed

Cumilla Correspondent

Cumillas Homna Municipality's two main roads are in poor condition and potholes have caused the commuters to suffer greatly. Due to the large potholes on this important road, the traffic is becoming unusable, and the suffering of the common people including the townspeople is constantly increasing.

The two main roads Homna-Muradnagar and Homna-Dulalpur have not been renovated for a long time and the public suffering is increasing. The students of schools, colleges and madrasas are facing a lot of difficulties especially due to the bad condition of the road in the municipality part. Therefore, the residents have strongly demanded the speedy renovation of the road.

Local residents said that these roads are two very important roads. Thousands of people from Ghagutia, Dulalpur, Achadpur and Chander Char Unions of Bancharampur, Nabinagar upazilas travel to the upazila headquarters daily through Homna-Dulalpur road. On the other hand, the people of Muradnagar upazila are traveling to the upazila Sadar in addition to Nilkhi, Gharmora, Jaipur and Bhashania Union through Homna Muradnagar road. Due to the bad condition of the road, the negative image of the government's development is emerging in the minds of the people.

It is known that Homna Municipality was formed in 2002 with the aim of ensuring civic services, Bagmara of Homna Sadar Union and Ghagutia Union, Kararkandi of Nilkhi Union, Baherkhola and Gowarivhanga of Mathabhanga Union. The elected mayor is already serving for 3 terms. Current mayor Ed. Md. Nazrul Islam has been elected mayor two times in a row and has been fulfilling his duties. Ministry of Local Government classified the municipality from 'C' class to 'B' class as a result of satisfactory revenue collection and development of various infrastructure, sanitation and drainage system in the municipal meeting. But due to the lack of renovation of two roads, the development of the municipality is not visible.

On Saturday morning it can be seen on the ground, from Kararkandi on Homna-Muradnagar road to Homna Purvapara and on Homna-Dulalpur road through Rehana Majid Mahila College in Homna Municipal Council, numerous small and big holes and carpeting have come out.

Razzak Mia, an auto driver of Kararkandi village, said that he cannot take the fare on this municipal road. A 10-minute drive takes half an hour due to broken roads. Battery-powered autos are prone to wear and tear.

Resident of Homna North Para. Humayan Kabir said, I am traveling through this road with great difficulty. Due to lack of renovation, the road has become almost impassable. Female college students are facing many difficulties.

In this regard, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Homna Municipal Council. Zahir Uddin said that the work will be done quickly under the tender process for the renovation of the roads.

In this context, the municipal mayor Ed. Nazrul Islam said that two roads have been tendered. CC welding will be done in the municipal part. The rest will be carpeted. Hopefully we can start the road renovation work in the next few days.
