
Threats to expatriate brother via Facebook, WhatsApp, family in fear, GD filed in Bogura

In Subgram, Sadar Upazila of Bogura, Mohammad Maskurul Alam (34), an expatriate living in the United Kingdom has allegedly received life-threatening messages through Facebook and WhatsApp.
His younger brother, Mohammad Shahriar Quraishi (27), filed a General Diary (GD) at the local police station regarding the matter.
According to the GD, Maskurul Alam, who has been residing in London since 2022, received abusive language and death threats from an unknown person using a Facebook account under the name “Ali Akbar” and a WhatsApp number 01706xxxxx. The messages warned that he would be physically harmed and face serious consequences if he returned to Bangladesh.
Maskurul Alam informed his younger brother about the threats. Shahriar Quraishi tried to contact the number via phone, but it was found to be switched off. Subsequently, similar threatening messages were sent on different dates and times from the same Facebook account, causing fear and anxiety within the family.
On 25 September 2025, Maskurul Alam’s younger brother filed a GD No.: 2234 at Bogura Sadar Police Station.
