Teenager stabbed to death in Cumilla

A teenager was stabbed to death on Cumilla’s Sadar's Gomti Dam Road. Locals believe that the killings took place in a planned manner due to the grouping conflict of the teenage gang and the dispute over the football game.
The incident took place at around 9.30pm on Wednesday night near the intersection of Gemati Dam Road south of Palpara Bridge in Adarsha Sadar Upazila of the district. Kotwali police OC said. Shahidur Rahman and relatives of the deceased have confirmed the matter. The deceased was identified as Zakir Hossain, a businessman from Araiwa Palpara Samiti area of Shubh Nagar.
Speaking to family members and locals of the deceased, it is learned that he was called from his house at around 7 o'clock. On his way home in the afternoon, a group of 5/6 teenagers surrounded Shubh when he came to the area adjacent to the South Crossroads of Palpara Bridge. At that time he was beaten and thrown on the side of Gumti dam road. At one point, a member of the teenage gang pulled out a Swiss gear (tip knife), hit him in the chest and quickly fled the scene. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Relatives of the deceased believe that the murder was premeditated due to a football match and a previous dispute. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Sohan Sarkar and Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Sahidur Rahmar immediately visited the spot. They said the operation to catch the killers was continuing.
