Teacher beaten while protesting eve-teasing in Bhuapur

Bhuapur (Tangail) Correspondent

Maulvi Nazrul Islam, an assistant of Sirajkandi Dakhil Madrasa, was beaten and sent to hospital for protesting against eve-teasing at Bhuapur in Tangail on Monday.

They attacked the teacher in the rehabilitation area during a tiffin on Monday noon. At present teacher Nazrul Islam is undergoing treatment at Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex.

It is learned that two scoundrels named Zahid and Sagar were peeking through the toilet near the common room of the madrasa girls on Sunday afternoon. When the teachers of the madrasa came to know about the incident, Sagar fled between the two and took Zahid to the office room. Later, Zahid tried to flee from the police and the madrasa president after hearing about it. But as he was fleeing, the students caught him. Later, one of his elder brothers named Sujan abducted Zahid.

When Nazrul Islam and Munnaf Tiffin, the teachers of the madrasa, went to offer prayers on Monday afternoon, they reached the community clinic between Rehabilitation Number One and Number Two.

At one stage, the scoundrels hit Nazrul Islam on the head and hands with rods and cricket stamps, seriously injuring him. Later, locals and teachers rescued him and admitted him to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex.

Injured teacher Nazrul Islam said, “I was on my way from Madrasa for noon prayers. They later hit him on the head and hands with iron rods and cricket stamps, leaving him bleeding. Locals and teachers rescued me and admitted me to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex. I want a fair trial.

Maulana Abdul Quddus, superintendent of Sirajkandi Dakhil Madrasa, said, “I went to Bhuapur to work on the madrasa in the morning. Suddenly around noon, I heard that Maulana Nazrul Islam, a Maulvi teacher of the madrasa, had been beaten by some scoundrels with an iron rod and a cricket stamp.

He was later rescued and admitted to Bhuapur Upazila Health Complex. In this incident, me and all the teachers of the madrasa are suffering from insecurity. Can attack us at any time. The case is being prepared. I demand exemplary punishment for the talented boys involved in this incident.

Officer-in-charge of Bhuapur Police Station Md. Faridul Islam said that no complaint has been received yet. However, necessary legal action will be taken in case of complaint.
