ASM Kamruzzaman said in a press release sent to journalists on Saturday afternoon that a smuggling ring was collecting Bangladeshi betel nuts at the border area for the purpose of smuggling to India. Based on such intelligence information, an 8-member BGB team of Lengura BOP of Kalmakanda Upazila on Friday around 4 pm conducted a raid in the West Lengura area of Lengura Union on the Indian border and seized 7,680 kg of Bangladeshi betel nuts without owners. The estimated market value of which is 3.456 million taka.
The seized betel nuts were deposited at the Netrokona Customs Office on Saturday afternoon.
