Sylhet Div Commissioner Abu Ahmed Siddiqui says : Dredger machines should be seized, destroyed as per lease agreement

Sylhet Bureau

Strict action will be taken against those who steal state resources. The 'Balu Mahal' lease agreement states that dredger machines cannot be used for sand extraction. Those who will use the dredger machine, not only their lease will be canceled, but they will be prosecuted in criminal cases.

As soon as dredgers are used for extracting mineral sand, stone or ground in any river including Jadukata, Dhopajan river which is rich in mineral sand and stone, all dredger machines which are harmful to environment should be seized and destroyed. We will also think about traditional methods of sand extraction.

Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Abu Ahmed Siddiqui NDC said this in the presence of the participants in the discussion meeting to stop sand mining in the border river Dhopajan and Jadukata River, which is rich in national resources, minerals, sand and stones. He also said that mineral sand-stone, beauty, nature are state resources.

We must fight together against those who loot state resources. But they are powerful and terrible monsters. Ferosas cannot be suppressed if they cannot make a united movement against Bhumikhekos, Paharkhekos, Balukhekos. They take a place on lease, then occupy all the surrounding places and steal and extract mineral sand and stone. A social movement should be formed against them. If everyone speaks up, it will stop.

Pointing out that not the ordinary workers, but the dredger owners and businessmen who stole mineral sand stones by putting the dredger machine in the river, he said, there is no benefit in filing a case against the ordinary barkey or boat workers. He said, if one person in the society suddenly owns crores of rupees, it creates chaos in the society. We want to stop them. We want to take action against the criminals with the help of everyone.

He said, we need to know whether there is sand in the rivers or not. Because the government is getting money (revenue) from here. If you don't give the lease, the government can ask why you didn't give the lease. If there is no sand, why should we lease?

Where it is 100 feet deep, there is nothing you can do. All the rivers including Jadukat, Dhopajan rivers where sand castles have been created and the surroundings destroyed on their pretext should be examined. Bella, our salute to the journalists who reported this to us. We are determined to take legal action against those guilty.

He said, if there is no sand, we will not keep the sand palace. Also, to facilitate the normal water flow of the river, to protect the navigability, to think about the livelihood of the common workers. 28-Border Guard Battalion Bangladesh (BGB) Sunamganj captain, Lt. Colonel AKM Zakaria Qadir, Superintendent of Police. F. M. Anwar Hossain Khan, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ilyas Mia also spoke.
