For the first time, the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), held a student council election. The election was conducted on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, where an 09-member student council was elected.

After counting the votes, Election Commissioner Samsul Alam, an Assistant Professor of the MIS Department, announced the results. The election witnessed 100% voter turnout, with all 240 votes cast. Jahid Hasan Jony was elected as the Vice President (VP) with the highest number of votes, and Md Shahinur Alam was elected as the General Secretary (GS).

Other elected members include: Assistant General Secretary: Bayezid Sikder Social Welfare Secretary: Ashiquzzaman Ashiq, Literature and Cultural Affairs, Secretary: Kayem Uddin, Student Welfare Secretary: Kaniz Farhana Muva, Sports Secretary: Likhan Sarkar, Executive Members: Russell Mia and Imrul Kayes Likhan Additionally, a faculty member will serve as the Treasurer and another as the President, representing the department.

The event was attended by the Head of the Department, Ashraful Alam, along with Election Commissioners Samsul Alam, Khadija Sharmin (Lecturer, MIS Department), and Afsana Mimi (Lecturer, MIS Department).

The newly elected General Secretary (GS), Md. Shahinur Alam, expressed his views, stating, "Students are the lifeblood of a university, and the student council is a crucial platform to voice their concerns. The council works independently for the betterment of students. During their academic tenure, students engage in sports, cultural activities, and various rightful demands.

The council fosters creativity, contributes to societal development, and enhances leadership and intellectual growth among students. We hope that, with everyone's support, the MIS Students' Association, formed in the model of a student council, will remain committed to developmental activities. The MIS Department has fulfilled a long-standing demand of its students by conducting this democratic, transparent, and impartial election."
