Police recovered a part of the truck load of rice that was robbed in Gazipur from Bhuyapur in Tangail. In this incident, rice trader Nazmul Zaman Shiplu, the owner of the godown, along with another truck driver, Azmat, have been arrested.

The arrested are rice trader Shiplu, son of teacher Shamsuzzaman of Foslandi village of Bhuyapur municipality and Azmat, son of Badsha Mandal of Makeshwar village of Ghatail upazila, truck driver.

Police members of Gazipur's Pubail police station recovered about 200 sacks of rice weighing 25 kg from the godown of Asadha Rice House on Bhuyapur Government Pilot High School Road on Monday (June 24).

Earlier last Thursday (June 21) a truck loaded with rice was robbed from Nagada Bridge area of Mir Bazar-Poorbachal road. Later, the owner of the truck, Dhananjay Mahant, filed a case in Gazipur's Pubail police station on June 23.

A team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Uttam Sutradhar of Pubail police station conducted raids at various places to recover truck loads of rice. Later, with the help of information technology, raids were carried out in Bhuyapur and some of the stolen rice was recovered from the godown of Asadha Chaal House owned by Nazmul Zaman Shiplu on Bhuyapur Government Pilot High School Road.

Meanwhile, Russel, the son of Rafiq, the main trader who bought the stolen rice, closed the shop and ran away.

Rice trader Shiplu's father Shamsuzzaman said, Russel, son of Rafiq, a rice trader in Bhuyapur market, kept rice in my son's godown. As there is no space in their godown, they kept it in my son's godown.

Deputy Inspector (SI) of Pubail Police Station Uttam Sutradhar said that a truck driver was arrested in Bhuyapur with the help of information technology.

Later, according to his information, about 200 sacks of rice were recovered from the Ashad rice house. Two people including the owner of the godown have been arrested in this incident. Earlier, the gang members hijacked a rice-laden truck from Gazipur. The truck has not yet been recovered
