Sreepur Upazila Parishad election : Chairman candidate Durjoy's candidature cancelled

Sreeppur Upazila Parishad election candidate Jamil Hasan Durjoy's candidature has been canceled by the Election Commission (EC) due to violation of election code of conducts.
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath gave this information to reporters after the hearing in the conference room of the Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission Secretariat on Wednesday (May 15).
Ashok Kumar said that due to violation of the code of conduct, the chairman candidate of Shripur upazila of Gazipur district. The commission has canceled the candidature of Jamil Hasan. After the hearing of the candidate, the Election Commission made this decision.
Earlier in the letter sent to Jamil Hasan, it is said that you are the candidate for the chairman of Ghora Prateik in the election of Sripur Upazila Parishad of Gazipur district to be held in the second phase of the sixth upazila parishad.
On April 21st, at around 11:00 AM, your workers supporters marched with a procession/showdown in Sripur Upazila Parishad premises and outside the premises, and as it created a possibility of breach of law and order, you apologized for having given a show cause notice on April 21st, promising to abide by the code of conduct in elections.
Later you tried to hold a public meeting with approximately 400 activists and supporters before allotment of symbols at Sabah Garden in Bagher Bazar area under Gazipur Sadar Upazila at 5 pm on April 27. In this regard, Executive Magistrate Istiaq Majnun Ishti appeared at the scene and charged your supporter Md. Akter Hossain was fined Tk 40,000 as per the Mobile Courts Act, 2009.
On May 7, around 12 noon, you organized a large pandal in the Masjid Market area in front of the gate of Nagar Hawla Government Primary School in Gazipur Union of Sripur Upazila with approximately 1,000 workers and supporters without permission which is a clear violation of Rule 7(b), 7(c) and 17(b) of the Upazila Parishad (Conduct of Election) Rules, 2016. Executive Magistrate Shaikha Sultana fined Tk 50,000 for violating the code of conduct. Later, Executive Magistrate Shaikha Sultana was again accused of holding a meeting without permission at the same place and obstructing the movement of people.
The Executive Magistrate found you speaking at the venue and accompanied by around 1,000 of your workers. Later, if you and your supporters tried to take legal action against the organizers for violation of Upazila Parishad (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 7 (b), 7 (c) of 2016 and 183 of Act 1860, you and your supporters threatened to prevent them from performing their official duties.
Immediately the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Sreepur, Gazipur attended the scene and saw the Executive Magistrate being threatened by you along with your staff supporters and marching out of the scene, which is clear from Rule 7, Rule 11, Rule 18 of the Upazila Parishad (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 2016. Violation. Upazila Parishad has been violating various rules stated in the Upazila Parishad (Conduct of Election) Rules, 2016 since the announcement of the schedule of General Election-2024. Even after giving you a show cause notice, you are not following the electoral conduct as described in these rules, which is a hindrance to the conduct of a fair, fair, impartial and free election.
It is also said that the Commission has decided to personally appear before the Election Commission on May 15 at 11:00 a.m. to explain why your candidature for the post of chairman in the Sripur Upazila Parishad election will not be canceled and other legal activities will not be taken.
As per the decision of the Election Commission, you are hereby requested to appear in person and give an explanation on the said date and time.
