South Surma law, order committee meet held : Crime rate increases due to social degradation: UNO Urmi Roy

Urmi Roy, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of South Surma in Sylhet, said, due to the degradation of social values, various types of crimes have increased in our society recently.
These evil activities should not be allowed to increase. They should be nipped in the bud. If necessary, the miscreants should be dealt with collectively.
Expressing concern over the recent incidents of robbery and extortion by unauthorized CNG-powered autorickshaws without number plates, she said that if necessary, public awareness should be raised to socially boycott unauthorized CNG-powered autorickshaws without number plates.
She was delivering the president's speech at the regular meeting of the South Surma Upazila Law and Order Committee at the Upazila Conference Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
Among others, the meeting was addressed by South Surma Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman, Moglabazar Police Station OC Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman, Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Command Council, South Upazila Commander, freedom fighter Md. Kuti Mia, Mollargaon UP Chairman Mamun Khan, South Surma Upazila Press Club, Sylhet President Chanchal Mahmud Fulor, and Residential Health Officer Dr. on behalf of the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Sushanta Kumar Mohapatra, Upazila Primary Education Officer Md. Lutfur Rahman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abhijit Kumar Pal, Upazila Fisheries Officer Sunanda Rani Modak, Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Abdul Muntakim, Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Khadija Khatun, Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Saiful Islam, Upazila Islamic Foundation Field Supervisor Md. Abdul Aziz, Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Monowar Hossain, Journalist Jahangir Alam Musik, Khelafat Majlis South Surma Upazila President M Ahmed Ali, Jamaat-e-Islami South Surma Upazila Ameer Sabbir Ahmed and journalist Imran Ahmed.
In another meeting organized earlier, various programs were taken up by the South Surma Upazila administration in observance of the Genocide Day on March 25 and the Great Independence Day on March 26.
