The "Youth Festival" organized by the development organization SDI (Society for Development Initiatives) was held in Sitakunda, Chittagong in a festive mood.
More than a hundred young people, teachers, guardians and local dignitaries were present at the festival held at the Sitakunda Upazila Auditorium at 10 am on Tuesday.
Sitakunda UNO Md. Fakhrul Islam was the chief guest at the event. SDI Founder and Executive Director Shamsul Haque presided over the event and SDI Zonal Manager Md. Milan Mia moderated the event.
Upazila Social Service Officer Lutfun Nesa Begum, SDI Senior Director (General) Sohelia Naznin Haque, and Regional Manager Md. Yakub Ali were present as special guests.
The Upazila Auditorium was filled with the participation of young people since morning around the festival. The festival included painting and poetry recitation competitions, youth-related discussions and free medical camps.
During the discussion, the speakers said,
“Youth is the future of a nation, if they move forward on the path of humane, creative and positive thinking, then the progress of society and the state will not stop. The goal of SDI is to integrate the energy, talent and enthusiasm of young people into the mainstream of development.”
Chief guest Md. Fakhrul Islam said to the youth in his speech—“If you move forward with knowledge, honesty and a sense of responsibility, you will be the leaders of the future. The young generation must be aware and responsible to bring positive changes in the society.”
At the end of the program, the chief guest awarded one-time educational scholarships to the students and gave away prizes to the winners of the competition.
SDI authorities said that the “Youth Festival” program has been organized to inspire the young people with self-confidence, socially responsible and humanitarian spirit.
