
Rally, discussion held in Jhalakathi on World Breastfeeding Week

A rally and discussion meeting was held in Jhalakathi on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week-2025.on Monday morning.
A rally started from the Deputy Commissioner's office and ended directly at the Civil Surgeon's office. After that, a discussion meeting was held there. This year's theme is Give priority to breast milk, build sustainable support systems.
At the discussion meeting after the rally, acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Rifat Ahmed presided over the meeting, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue, Development and Human Resource Management) Antara Halder spoke as the chief guest. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) SM Bayezid Ibne Akbar spoke as the special guest, Deputy Director of Planning Tapas Kumar Shil said, and Senior Medicine Consultant of Sadar Hospital Dr. Abual Hasan.
The speakers said that mother's milk is the first vaccine for a child. There is no alternative to mother's milk for a child's healthy development. Mother's milk not only promotes physical growth of the child, but also increases mental development and immunity. A child should be fed only mother's milk for up to six months, which protects the child from malnutrition and various diseases. In addition, families and society need to be more aware of improving the health of children and mothers, and it is important to ensure a supportive environment for breastfeeding for working mothers.
Many people from related departments, including health workers, participated in the rally and discussion meeting organized by the Public Health Nutrition Institute and the Civil Surgeon's Office.
