The agitated students categorically said that they are not interested in holding a talk with the government to resolve the quota issue after the bloodstained incidents.

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, made the post on his verified Facebook page this afternoon in response to Law Minister Anisul Huq’s call for talks with the agitated students.

“No dialogue with the government after the bloodstained incidents,” he wrote on the social media platform following the reported killing of three people in clashes between protesters and police in different parts of the country on Thursday.

Sarjis Alam, also a coordinator of the anti-quota movement, in a separate status on his Facebook page said, “Bullets and dead bodies are on one hand, while a call for dialogue is on the other hand. How can we hold a dialogue, stamping down our brothers bloods?”

Another coordinator Asif Mahmud wrote there is no dialogue with the bullets. “It is rather better to die than betray with the blood,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said the government agrees in principle on quota reform and is ready to hold talks with the quota reform protesters.

“Prime Minister has given me and Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury the responsibility to hold talks with them. We want to have talks with them whenever they want, if they want to hold talks today, we are ready to do this,” the law minister said while briefing the media on Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises this afternoon.
