Protest against 'Prottoy' : BSMR University academic activities stalled for teachers' strike

The teachers and staff of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University. (BSMRU) in Kishoreganj are steadfast in their refusal to provide services as a protest against their inclusion in the universal pension scheme 'Prottoy effectively bringing the University to a standstill on Monday.

The university's class-exams and labs are closed. Teachers went on a full strike on Monday.

Terming the 'Prottoy scheme discriminatory University teachers across the country have been protesting since March of this year.

They are saying that they are expressing solidarity with the program announced by the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers' Association. (FBUTA) to demand the withdrawal of inclusion of university teachers from the discriminatory certification scheme, the inclusion of university teachers in the promised super grade, and the introduction of individual pay scales for teachers.

According to the protest announced by the teachers association, the teachers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University (BSMRU) have commenced a complete strike from this morning.

There was a notable absence of teachers and staff in faculties and Institutes. Later, the strike observed begins at least 35 Public Universities across the country.
