One dies , 3 hospitalized after being bitten by Bhimrul in Chandpur

A man named Salamat Miyaji (55) died after being bitten by a viper in Baro Durgapur village of Matlab Uttar upazila of Chandpur. Two others, including his wife, were injured in the incident.

The incident took place at 4 pm on Saturday (April 19) in the area adjacent to Ghosh Bari in Ghasirchar of Matlab Uttar upazila.

The deceased Salamat Miyaji (55) is the son of the late Tamiz Uddin of Baro Durgapur village of the upazila. He was working as the secretary of the Alor Sandhyayan Bahumukhi Samabaya Samity. His wife Selina Akhter and others are seriously ill and are undergoing treatment in the ICU of BIRDEM Hospital in Dhaka. Locals described the incident as very tragic and sad.

Locals said that on Saturday afternoon, he left with his wife to go to his daughter's house in Ghasirchar. On the way, he and his wife Selina Akhter were bitten by Bhimrul near Ghosh's house.

Upon receiving the news, his daughter Shauni Akhter and her son-in-law rushed to the spot. They were also bitten by the stubborn Bhimrul. Later, after giving them first aid, they were taken to BIRDEM Hospital in Dhaka, where the doctor declared him dead.

Local UP member Md. Manik said that the incident was heartbreaking. Such a death in front of the eyes is very painful. After the incident, the injured Salamat Miyaji and his family members were sent for treatment. A shadow of grief fell on the area after receiving the news of his death. He asked everyone to pray for the injured so that they can recover quickly and return home. May the shadow of grief not weigh heavy on the area anymore.
