Newly -married wife killed for dowry, husband arrested in Satkhira

The husband has been accused of beating and strangling his newly married wife Khadija Khatun for demanding dowry in Madhavkati village of Satkhira Sadar Upazila. In this incident, the locals have handed over the husband Amirul Islam to the police. This incident happened in the early in the morning of Tuesday (January 14).
The deceased Khadija Khatun (19) is the daughter of Siddikur Rahman of Narayanjol village of Satkhira Sadar and Amirul Islam (28) is the son of Elahi Box of Madhavkati village of the same upazila.
Quoting the relatives of the deceased, OC Shaminul Islam of Sadar police station said that Khadija Khatun, daughter of Siddique Mali of Narayanjol village, got married to Amirul Islam, son of Elahi Box of Madhabkati village of Sadar upazila, three months ago. After a few days of marriage, Amirul Islam began to pressure his father-in-law to bring two lakh taka as dowry. Due to this incident, Amirul Islam beat and strangled his wife Khadija Khatun early on Tuesday morning.
OC also said that after receiving the news, the police recovered Khadija Khatun's body and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue. The deceased's husband Amirul Islam has been arrested. He said that legal action will be taken in this regard.
