
Mymensingh woman, accomplice sentenced to life unto death for 2011 murder of husband

A Mymensingh court has sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment unto death for murdering her husband in 2011.
The convicts have been identified as Hafiza Khatun, of Nandibari village in Muktagacha upazila, and Abdullah Al Mamun.
On Monday, Judge Al Mansur of Mymensingh Additional Sessions Judge Court-5 delivered the verdict, sentencing both to life imprisonment and imposing a fine of Tk 1 lakh each. Mamun was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Helal Uddin had moved to Dubai for work after marrying Hafiza Khatun. In his absence, Hafiza developed an extramarital relationship with Mamun.
In 2011, Helal returned home and demanded an account of the money he had been sending to Hafiza’s bank account.
On June 28, 2011, he was murdered at his home.
Following the incident, Helal’s sister, Safia Akter, filed a case with Muktagacha Police Station. Police later submitted a charge sheet against three accused.
One of the accused, Arman, died during the trial proceedings.
