Kabori’s 3rd death anniversary Wednesday

Today is the 3rd death anniversary of legendary film actress Sarah Begum Kabori. The National Film Award-winning actress died on this day in 2021.

Born on 19 July, 1950 in Chattogram, Kabori started her acting career at the age of 14 with renowned filmmaker Subhas Dutta’s “Shutorang” in 1964. During her long career, she worked with several noted actors, including, Razzak, Farooque, Bulbul Ahmed, Alamgir, Sohel Rana, Ujjal, Wasim, Khan Ataur Rahman and Anwar Hossain.

Kabori has acted in a number of popular movies, including “Neel Akasher Neeche”, “Mainamati”, “Dheu-er Por Dheu”, “Porichoy”, “Odhikar”, “Beiman”, “Obak Prithibi”, “Deep Nebhe Nai”, “Heeramon”, “Nishi Holo Bhor”, “Abirbhab”, “Titash Ekti Nodir Naam”, “Sareng Bou”, “Shujon Shokhi”, “Masud Rana” and “Devdas”.

Kabori received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Sareng Bou (1978) and in lifetime achievement category in 2013.

The actress was elected as a member of parliament from the Narayanganj-4 constituency as Awami League politician in 2008.

She made her directorial debut in 2006 with the film “Aina”. She later began working on her second film as director titled “Ei Tumi Shey Tumi”, with a grant from the government in fiscal year 2018-2019 but has left it unfinished.
