After the Hindi film “Kadak Singh”, renowned Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan to star again in Indian filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s project. The upcoming Tollywood film titled “Dear Ma”, also stars Indian actors Chandan Roy Sanyal and Saswata Chatterjee.

The actress confirmed the news through a Facebook post on Friday. “Gratitude to Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury for giving me such an opportunity for the second time after Kadak Singh! Much excited to share the screen with some of the finest actors like Chandan Roy Sanyal, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, Anubha Fatehpuria, Padmapriya and others! Shoot begins this May!” Jaya wrote.

Jaya will portray the character of a mother while Chandan Roy will be seen as her husband. Saswata Chatterjee will play a special role in the film. The movie will have two child actors in two important roles.

About the film, Jaya told Kolkata’s Anandabazar newspaper, “This story of the film has never been told before. So it was important to bring on screen. I haven’t acted on this type of character before. Aniruddha da narrates stories sensitively. And I like it very much.”

Aniruddha Roy shared, “The film “Dear Ma” is based on a different kind of relationship between a mother and daughter. Sometimes, the relationship of love is stronger than blood ties. Some subtle twists of human relations will be brought out through the story. The story has a touch of thriller too.”

According to the maker, the shooting of this film will begin in the middle of May in Kolkata.

To note: Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury is going to make Bengali films after ten years through “Dear Ma”. His last Bengali film “Buno Haansh” was released in 2024. Dev and Srabanti Chatterjee played the central roles in the film.

Jaya debuted in Bollywood film through Aniruddha’s “Kadak Singh” last year. She was seen opposite noted Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi in the film. The movie was released on 8 December 2023 on Indian OTT platform ZEE5.
