Jamaat Islami Andolon hold protest march, rally on 5-point demands in Barguna

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolan Bangladesh have held a protest march and rally in Barguna demanding five points including implementation of the July Charter and holding national elections through PR method. The program was organized by the district branch after Asr prayers on Friday.
Before the Asr prayers, the Barguna district branch of the Islamic Movement Bangladesh organized a rally. After the prayers, the organization took out a protest procession. At the same time, after a short rally at the Press Club premises, Jamaat-e-Islami took out a huge procession and left for the Town Hall. Later, after circling various roads in the market, the Islamic Movement procession joined the Jamaat procession, turning it into a sea of people. After circling important roads in the city, the protest procession ended in front of the Sadarghat Jame Mosque. At this time, the leaders of the Khilafat Majlis also joined it.
Keorakbunia Pir Saheb Maulana Mohammad Aliullah, the nominated candidate of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest at the rally and procession of the Islamic Movement. District President Mufti Mizanur Rahman presided over the event. General Secretary Maulana A. Shakur, along with district and upazila level leaders, workers and supporters participated in it.
On the other hand, the chief guest at the Jamaat rally organized at the premises of the Barguna Sadarghat Central Jamaat Mosque was District Ameer and Barguna-1 constituency MP candidate Prof Maulana Md. Mohibullah Harun. Sadar Upazila Ameer Maulana Nurul Amin presided over the meeting. District Jamaat Secretary General SM Afzlur Rahman and District Teachers Federation General Secretary Professor Abdur Rob spoke.
The speakers said that to protect the people's voting rights, elections should be held based on the July Charter and the PR system should be introduced in both houses of parliament. They alleged that no election without PR would be acceptable. The leaders announced that the movement would continue until their demands were met.
In addition, activists and supporters have held protest marches and rallies in all upazilas of the district regarding this demand.
