Immersion of idols of Durga Puja ended in Joypurhat amid festivities on Thursday.
After 5 days of continuous worship and worship, on the Dashami day, after playing sindoor in the mandapa, the idol is brought from various places in a Vijaya procession with dancing and singing to the Chakshyam Ghat on the Chhota Yamuna River in the evening. Then, Goddess Durga is immersed in religious rituals at the ghat with the chanting of mantras by the priest. During this time, the ghat premises become filled with the sound of drums and conch shells.
Present at the immersion ceremony were Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdul Wahab, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rashedul Islam, President of the District Puja Udjavan Parishad Adv. Hrishikesh Sarkar, General Secretary Swapan Kumar and others.
Durga Puja was held in 293 mandap in the district this time. Members of the army, RAB, police-administration and other law enforcement agencies were on hand to maintain the overall situation of the puja.
