The installation ceremony of the newly elected committee of America-Bangladesh Press Club, one of the organizations of journalists in America was held recently.

The program began with the performance of the national anthems of Bangladesh and America at a party hall in Woodside, New York City.

In addition to members of the Press Club family, people from various professions including editors of various newspapers and television stations, journalists, businessmen, politicians, lawyers, poets, writers, cultural and social activists were present at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected committee for the 2025-2026 term.

Press Club President Shawkat Osman Rachi delivered a welcome speech at the inauguration ceremony hosted by Farah Hasin and Darpan Kabir. Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate in New York, Nazmul Huda, was present as a guest. He said that the Press Club is playing a role in building the Bangladeshi community.

Shahnewaz, Editor of Ajkal newspaper and a popular face of the community, expressed his hope that journalists will play a strong role in spreading true news. Among others, Bangladesh Society President Ataur Rahman Selim, Attorney Moin Chowdhury and Utsab Group CEO Raihan Zaman spoke at the event.

Ibrahim Chowdhury Khokon, editor of Prothom Alo North America, Mohammad Sayeed, former president of America Bangladesh Press Club and editor of Saptahik Probas, and Darpan Kabir, former president and editor of Deshkanth, also spoke.

General Secretary Mashiur Rahman Majumder, former general secretary Manjurul Haque Manju, and joint secretary Abu Bakar Siddique expressed their gratitude to the guests.

Earlier, a minute's silence was observed to pray for the eternal peace of the soul of late Abdul Hai Swapan, a former member of the Press Club.

A cultural program was organized at the end. Anik Raj, Lini Sabrin, Naju Akand and Chandan Chowdhury performed songs in it. The artists entertained the audience by performing popular songs.
