Half marathon held at SUST in memory of July martyrs

The 'Raise for Justice Half Marathon' was held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in memory of the martyrs of the July Uprising. 

The marathon was organized by the university’s social awareness organization, Voice for Justice, SUST.

 The symbolic run began at 5:30 AM on Friday  from the university’s roundabout.

The marathon featured three categories of races: 21.1 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers. Separate registration fees were required for students and general participants in each event. University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. M. Sarwaruddin inaugurated the marathon.

 

Following the marathon, a discussion session and an award ceremony were held at the university's central auditorium. During the ceremony, the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Sajedul Karim, and Treasurer, Professor Dr. Ismail Hossain, presented awards to the winners.

 

Also present at the event were Professor Dr. Mozammel Haque, Professor Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed, Professor Dr. Al Amin, Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Professor Dr. Ali Oakkas, and Associate Professor Mohammad Rajik Mia, along with teachers and students from various departments.

Mominur Rashid Shuvo, President of Voice for Justice, SUST, said, ‘Thousands were martyred in the July Movement to build a new Bangladesh. July is not just a month of mourning  it is a month of protest, resistance, and the courage to dream. This marathon highlighted our stance in support of justice, humanity, and democracy.’
