Finally fish market freed from occupation at intervention of Kalapara UNO

The large wholesale fish market adjacent to the bus stand of Kalapara Municipality has finally been cleared in Patuakhali's Kalapara. Syed Moshiur Rahman Shimu, the former chairman of Tiakhali Union claiming his record land, used to collect Tk 5-10 thousand per day from this fish market in the name of VT rent for a long time. Some part of which got masjid at crossroads, bus stand, but the government did not get any revenue from this market.

The upazila administration has decided to declare the wholesale fish market free of occupation and deposit the money collected from the market to the revenue sector. Retail and wholesale fish sellers are happy with this decision of upazila administration. They applauded the UNO's decision.

According to sources, this large wholesale fish market located on the west side of the Kalapara-Patuakhali highway has 25/30 fish stocks. Traders buy and sell millions of rupees worth of fish in this market every day. At the rate of 5 percent, money was withdrawn from both the buyer and seller in the name of rent. Besides, 200 rupees per chaat. In this way, 5-10 thousand taka was collected from this market every day, the figure of which is 1.5 to 3 lakh taka per month.

The source also said that the land of the fish market next to the highway was surveyed in the name of Bangladesh Water Development Development Board in the latest BS survey. Although at one time a settlement was claimed in the name of an individual from the pubo, it currently has no basis except for a declaratory decree from the court.

Syed Moshiur Rahman Shimu, the former chairman of Tiakhali Union, said, "That land in Chowrasta fish market is the record land purchased by us. We will go to court for legal action.

Mahmudul Hasan Sujan Molla, the current chairman of Tiakhali Union, said, "The common people are happy because the fish market is free from encroachment. Thanks to the upazila administration on behalf of the public of Tiakhali Union.

Kalapara UNO Md. Rabiul Islam said, "From now on, the upazila administration will collect the revenue from the fish market and deposit it in the government treasury. Strict action will be taken if anyone tries to interfere with it.

UNO also said, "Only the government has the legitimacy to collect revenue, regardless of whether the market is private or public land. However, rent can be collected at the individual level on lease subject to conditions from the government.
