Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the previous fascist government committed three atrocities against the people of Rangpur. One was not trying the murder of Felani in Kurigram, second one is killing Shaheed Abu Sayeed, the icon of the student movement including killing the other students as well as people indiscriminately during the movement and the third one is oppressed leader of Rangpur, former acting secretary ATM Azaharul Islam, has been detained in prison for 16 years in the name of trial in a false case. Without delay, immediately return this oppressed leader to the people. Otherwise, we will be forced to take to the streets.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a street meeting held at Mirbag Degree College ground in Kaunia Upazila of Rangpur on Friday evening.

Although the street meeting was called, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said in the presence of a large crowd that broke through the fog and poured dew like rain, saying that even in 54 years of independence, people have not had a taste of this. The crows have eaten everything.

He said that during every Awami League rule, thousands of people have been killed like animals. The army barracks have been destroyed. The country has been divided on the basis of religion. The innocent have been oppressed and their wealth has been looted. Thousands of fresh blood has been shed like Abu Sayeed to confront and resist the fascists who are oppressing the nation. The nation has seen a procession of corpses across the country. Many of them have been martyred, permanently disabled. In exchange for their pure sacrifice and lives, the fascist murderers have been freed. Hundreds of youth have become blind and disabled.

The Ameer-e-Jamaat said that our struggle to build a society free from exploitation and terrorism and to build a human society for which the martyrs of the July-August Revolution sacrificed their lives.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Assistant Secretary General and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Director Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Assistant Director Principal Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Central Working Committee Member and Rangpur-Dinajpur Regional Team Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal were present as special guests at the meeting. The meeting held under the chairmanship of Jamaat-e-Islami Kaunia Upazila Ameer Maulana Abdus Salam was addressed by Jamaat-e-Islami Rangpur Metropolitan Ameer Vice-Principal Maulana ATM Azam Khan, District Ameer Professor Golam Rabbani, District Secretary Maulana Enamul Haque, General Secretary of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Land Port Workers Union and Assistant Regional Director of the Rangpur-Dinajpur Region of Bangladesh Shromik Kollayan Federation Professor Abul Hashem Badal, District President of the Ardash Teachers Federation Principal Abdul Gani, Jamaat leader Mostaq Ahmed, Pirgach Upazila Ameer Bazlur Rashid Mukul and among others.

It is noted that earlier Jamaat Ameer joined a large workers’ conference in Kurigram and visited the house of Shaeed Felai who was fired by Indian Border Security Force and her dead body was hanging in the barbed wire fencing for some days.
