Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal called on the teachers, students, researchers and entrepreneurs to work unitedly to build the dream of Sonar Bangla.

He made this call in his speech as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the day-long innovation fair at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate building on Monday.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin ) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar and Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed spoke as special guests. The main article entitled 'Funding Innovation: How, What and Why of Successful Cases?' was presented by Datasoft Systems Bangladesh President M. Manzoor Mahmood. Dhaka University Innovation Team Convener Professor Dr. Istiaq M Syed delivered the welcome address.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal said, initiatives have been taken to strengthen the industry-academia relationship with the aim of using the discoveries and innovations of Dhaka University for public welfare. Discussions will soon be held with various companies in the country to market the innovative products of our researchers. To survive in the current 'knowledge economy' era, we must introduce new ideas and innovate products.

Emphasizing on spreading innovative ideas among researchers and entrepreneurs, he said, only then we can survive on the international education map. He said that a 'start-up studio' will soon be established in the university to develop innovative products and services for researchers. He also mentioned that 'start-ups' will be launched by collecting funds from the alumni of the university through the introduction of 'crowd financing system'. He emphasized on building the necessary infrastructure for quality research and innovation.

He expects the cooperation of alumni to build an innovation-ecosystem in the university. It should be noted that a total of 100 innovative ideas were presented and products were displayed at the day-long innovation fair. Out of these, 40 innovative products and 61 service innovation ideas are displayed. Production of jute products through the use of smart technology, simple methods of diagnosis of various diseases, sustainable methods to prevent environmental and water pollution, increasing the quality of leather through the use of enzymes, methods of preserving fruits and vegetables in a healthy way, chemical-free leather processing methods, automation of tabulation systems. , various innovative ideas and products were showcased, including mobile app development for security assurance, university transportation troubleshooting and bus tracking system, student monitoring.
